PHANTASMA / 2025

derived from the ancient Greek notion of apparition, dream-image, specter, and spirit—embodies the liminal space between materiality and transcendence. Informed by the rigorous yet unpredictable manipulation of molten glass, these sculptural forms succumb to gravity’s inexorable pull, their amorphous contours crushed, bent, and twisted as if seeking escape from the fiery crucible. Infused with plasma from neon, krypton, and helium, each piece radiates from within, recalling the elusive glow of phenomena that hover at the intersection of the corporeal and the ethereal.

In the spirit of contemporary practices that probe the boundaries between control and intuitive flow, Phantasma stands as an arresting testament to the alchemy of form and formlessness. Its sinuous, organic silhouettes—invoking a visceral tension between fixation and release—are as much a reflection of the artist’s intervention as they are a manifestation of the glass itself, asserting its own agency. This charged interplay of light, color, and shape alludes to the fleeting nature of perception, echoing the concept’s etymological roots in an age-old fascination with the ephemeral and the uncanny.
